Measures against aphids on indoor plants - simple folk recipes and professional preparations

Floriculture is a fascinating activity, which is very popular among many housewives. Indoor plants have a decorative function, decorating window sills and balconies. To maintain this beauty, proper care is required, which includes timely watering, feeding, replanting, etc. However, there is one factor that negatively affects the state of culture - this is an attack of pests. Aphids on indoor plants are most common, and despite their small size, it causes quite a large-scale damage. How to save a home greenhouse from this insect? Let's figure it out.

Aphid

The appearance of aphids on plants in the house

More often it is white aphid that starts on indoor plants, although sometimes insects are found that belong to other varieties. They can settle on the stem, leaves, inflorescences and even on the root.
With a strong infection, the aphid covers the entire lower side of the leaf plates and is distributed along the shoot with a dense cover. It is not difficult to diagnose a lesion, since no matter what color the pest is, it can be seen with the naked eye. The lifestyle of these small insects is sedentary, and the main source of food is the juice of plants, which they suck out with their thin proboscis. As a result of depletion, the culture begins to wither away, the affected leaves curl, the stalk becomes thinner, and the buds fall, before they can bloom.

The aphid that appears on indoor flowers spreads incredibly quickly and in a short period of time can infect absolutely all the plants that are in your house. To prevent this from happening, it is recommended to carry out prophylaxis, which will include:

  • regular inspection of each culture - this will reveal the parasite when the first individuals appear;
  • those plants that you just purchased are preferably quarantined for a week;
  • sick and weakened flowers should also be isolated until they recover completely;
  • Aphids reproduce most intensively on flowers in the presence of favorable conditions for this - dry air and elevated temperature, and to prevent accelerated reproduction of the pest, crops should be grown in a humid environment, periodically spraying them and removing them away from batteries and other artificial heat sources.

Aphids can start in the land of indoor plants. In this case, it is quite difficult to detect the parasite, and flower growers only learn about its appearance after the culture begins to wither. But to save the flowers is quite possible, and regardless of what part of them the pest was discovered.
