The most effective means to kill bugs
If you decide to carry out the procedure for the persecution of insects yourself, then you should know that the destruction of bugs and, for example, cockroaches, have significant differences. If the latter can die after eating poisonous bait, then the bloodsuckers will not pay any attention to such traps. Bed bugs feed exclusively on human blood and domestic animals, therefore only this smell and no other can attract them.
But, despite some difficulties, the destruction of bedbugs on their own is quite possible. Today on sale there is a huge amount of funds for self-pest control in the house. And if you choose the right drug, you can forget about the problem associated with bedbugs forever after the first procedure.
However, with the appearance of parasites in the house, many are horrified or lost. They can be understood, because it seems that such a problem as the invasion of bugs is irrelevant in the modern world. But this is not so! Little bloodsuckers do not give up their positions and still cause a lot of trouble to a person. If a similar misfortune has happened to you - do not despair! Check out the basic information about your intruders by reading an article on our website: What to do if the apartment got home bed bugs?
Types of Insecticides
All insecticides for the destruction of bugs can be divided into several main types:
- aerosol products;
- concentrated preparations;
- dusts;
- folk remedies.
And in order to independently destroy the bugs, you should disassemble each individual of the proposed species, and choose the best option for your situation.
Aerosols
The beauty of using aerosol insecticides is that it is a ready-to-use product. There is no need to dilute it with water and look for a suitable container for irrigation of surfaces. In this case, the insecticide solution is already bottled and can be used immediately after purchase.
The use of aerosols gives the fastest result, since the jet of poison is easily sprayed on the surface, touching at the same time even in the most inaccessible places.
To destroy bedbugs in the shortest possible time, the aerosol should be sprayed locally, that is, directly above the place where parasites are concentrated.
This type of drug has disadvantages. When sprayed, most of the drug remains in the air and can get into the respiratory tract of someone who will be nearby. Therefore, aerosols must be used carefully, adhering to the following rules:
- in the coverage area of the product should not be hygiene products and products;
- isolate animals, limit children's access to the room where the events for the destruction of bugs will take place, and turn off the hoods;
- wear a mask, eye protection goggles and rubber gloves;
- tightly close windows and doors or open vents (this item must be performed according to the instructions for a specific drug);
- so that all the components of the insecticide are mixed, it is necessary to shake the container several times;
- when spraying, the cylinder should be at arm's length from the one who is carrying out this procedure, and from the irrigation site - by 20-25 cm;
- after the end of the process, immediately leave the room and close it for several hours.
Do not use the spray in the immediate vicinity of open flames or household electrical appliances included in the network.
The best means to destroy bugs in the form of an aerosol are:
- Raptor
- Combat
- Raid
- Dichlorvos (Neo or Varan A);
- Clean house and so forth
But you should know that it is rational to use this type of insecticide only if there is a small amount of parasites in the house. For example, if it is known that they live in only one small armchair. Otherwise, the use of aerosol products does not justify itself. It is expensive and ineffective.
Concentrates
Some means of killing bugs are sold in concentrated form. Before use, such preparations must be diluted in running water according to the instructions and placed in a spray bottle. They are sprayed in the same way as ready-made aerosols - over the nests of bedbugs, direct the jet to hard-to-reach places and treat flat surfaces.
The most popular concentrates are:
- Tetrix
- Diazinon;
- Lyabda Zone;
- Sinusan;
- Get and others.
Absolutely all concentrated preparations must be diluted with water according to the instructions. Before use, personal protective equipment should be worn.
Dusty
Dusts are called funds in the form of crayons and powders. If we talk about crayons, then this category of insecticides is not effective, because, as mentioned earlier, bedbugs do not eat poison. That is, the parasite will step over the outlined line and continue to the source of saturation.
But dusts, made in the form of a powder, can bear fruit, as they contain poisons of contact action. But there is one drawback - do not expect a quick effect, since the struggle with the help of powders is quite long-lasting.
- Among the powder preparations, Chlorophos should be distinguished. To prepare the mixture, it is necessary to dissolve 15 g of dry means in 10 l of running water.
Chlorophos has an average level of toxicity and is especially dangerous by inhalation.
- Another fairly effective powdered product is Neopin. The proportions for its preparation are somewhat different: 1 g of running water per 10 g of dry mix. With this preparation, it is necessary to treat the nests of bedbugs and the places where they can live (cracks, corners, etc.). To achieve a positive result, Neopin needs to irrigate the room every day until the insects are completely exterminated. Otherwise, you can simply reduce the number of living individuals.
- Klopoveron is a highly effective Soviet development. This drug is considered one of the most popular and popular among dusts. The poisonous component has a paralytic effect on insects and, after blocking the locomotive apparatus, the bugs die. Klopoveron has a long validity period, and after using it you can forget about annoying bloodsuckers for a long time and not re-process the room.
- “Clean House” - this drug is used mainly by pest control workers, as it is toxic to humans and requires compliance with special safety rules. In order to destroy all bugs in a one-room apartment, you will have to buy at least 5 packages, the contents of which must be scattered under furniture, in all cracks, near baseboards and in corners. Re-treatment is carried out a week after the first, but the drug will already require much less.
Folk recipes
When bugs appear in the house, it is necessary, first of all, to objectively assess the situation.And if you were able to accurately establish the location of the nest of parasites, and also understand that at this stage they did not have much time to breed, then in such a situation it is quite possible to get rid of them by folk methods.
These include:
- intense odor chemicals;
- acetic solutions;
- repellent plants;
- high or low temperatures.
Smother the parasite with a chemical
Chemical folk remedies are drugs with a strong aroma that must be used in contact. Destruction of bedbugs on their own most often occurs using liquids such as turpentine, methylated spirits, kerosene, ammonia, naphthalene, camphor, cresol. They are used in their pure form, pouring directly into the discovered nest. Sometimes these chemicals are poured into small containers and placed in the corners of the infected room.
However, due to the high toxicity, experts categorically do not recommend using these funds to destroy bed bugs in an apartment. Some of them can dissolve tight rubber gloves, and their fumes can cause burns to the respiratory tract. Safety is first and foremost, therefore it is better to resort to the help of other more gentle means.
When using turpentine, kerosene and methylated spirits, it is important to remember that these liquids are highly flammable, therefore it is necessary to strictly observe fire safety rules and wear reliable personal protective equipment.
Prepare vinegar poison
Regular table vinegar, which has become a truly folk, or even traditional preparation for small bloodsuckers, has gained particular popularity in the extermination of bedbugs. Why? Because it is affordable, cheap and safe for human health.
On a note! In fact, a solution of vinegar can only scare away bugs for a while, but he certainly can not destroy them. In addition, in order to achieve a positive result, you will have to carefully process every corner in the room. Therefore, this event will take you quite a lot of time and effort.
Table vinegar has established itself well as a preventive measure, and the more concentrated the solution, the more likely the bugs will not settle in your house. With the prepared preparation, it is necessary to lubricate all possible ways of penetration of parasites into the apartment: door and window openings, window sills, walls around the opening of the ventilation shaft and cracks in the walls. Some of them will work only in direct contact with an insect.
The solution for the destruction of bugs can be prepared according to the following recipes:
- combine in equal proportions table vinegar, naphthalene and alcohol (90%), pour the resulting liquid into a spray bottle and spray over the bed of bugs;
- if you mix table vinegar with a decoction of bitter wormwood, you will get an excellent preventative that is applied to the possible paths of pests into the apartment.
We decompose repellent plants
Bed bugs do not like the smell of plants such as wormwood and tansy. If we talk about wormwood, then it is not able to scare off parasites for a long time, and even more so to destroy them. This herb can be used as a prophylaxis together with other similar drugs, for example, with a solution of vinegar.
Tansy is not liked by insects, and not only bed bugs, but also cockroaches and fleas will flee from its pungent smell. These poisonous yellow flowers appear in the summer. It is at this time of year that they must be collected and harvested. Tansy can be decomposed in places of accumulation of parasites and along the paths of their movement. It is recommended to place several flowers directly under the mattress. The result will not be long in coming - bugs will leave their nesting place almost immediately. But where they will go is another question. If a bullying being carried out in one room alone, it is likely that small bloodsuckers will run away not far, most likely it will be an adjacent room.
Important! Remember that tansy is a toxic plant, for this reason it is extremely undesirable to leave it freely available for small children and pets! In addition, having laid it out in one of the rooms, one should remember about one's own safety and constantly ventilate the room. Windows must be open at night!
Tansy can provide you with short-term peace, but it will not be able to completely rid your home of bugs. Repellent plants are good to use in conjunction with other means, then the result will be positive.
Destruction of bugs by heat and frost
Unlike other domestic insects, bugs are able to exist normally in a fairly wide temperature range. The critical readings of the thermometer for them are the marks located above +60 and below -22 ° C. But at the same time, the destruction of bedbugs of all generations is guaranteed to occur: from adults to eggs. How can one act on bugs with the help of temperature?
- The necessary minus for the death of bugs can only be expected in the conditions of the northern climate, therefore, freezing, as a way of controlling insects, is most often used by residents of cold regions. It is necessary to leave the infected apartment for several days, while opening all the windows. But here it is imperative to take care of the safety of the water supply and heating system, since under the influence of low temperatures they will quickly become worthless.
- If the bugs settled in a particular piece of furniture and did not have time to settle throughout the apartment, then in this case it is enough to take this very sofa to frost. Then you yourself decide where it will be more convenient for you to put it: in the courtyard or on the roof. At the same time, infected bedspreads and bedding should be “frozen” by sending these things for a couple of days to the freezer and leaving them at the lowest temperature.
- If you do not have the opportunity to put infected things in the freezer, then they can be cleaned at the maximum permissible temperature, but this indicator must be above + 60 ° C.
- In summer, the clothes are folded in black plastic bags and exposed to the sun or laid on the front seat of the car, the windows are closed, and the machine itself is also placed in direct sunlight. And if the weather conditions are favorable, then the bugs are guaranteed to die within a few hours.
- The nest of bugs can be poured with boiling water. If they settled in a sofa or mattress, then these items also need to be processed in a similar way. But only in the latter case, you should first think about it, because some upholstery materials are very easy to spoil, and then together with bedbugs you will destroy expensive furniture.
Important! Observe the required temperature regime without fail, since at + 45 ° C the eggs are able to maintain viability throughout the day. If the mark of the thermometer reaches only -10 ° C, then the bugs will fall into suspended animation, and when the “thaw” sets in, they will come to life again and will attack the source of saturation with even greater fury!
With the independent destruction of bugs, one should act wisely. Always read the instructions for the purchased drugs, dilute concentrated products correctly, and when using folk methods, do not forget about the mask that protects the respiratory tract and gloves.
