Fumigators from wasps: repelling insects from the site and from home
Although these devices are known primarily as an option for repelling mosquitoes, fumigators from wasps are also effective. Some of them are intended for indoor use, in others - on an open veranda, on a personal plot or during outdoor recreation. Although the principle of operation is the same - they secrete substances that wasps do not like. Therefore, these insects try not to fall into range.
Fumigators in the fight against flying insects
Fumigators are devices for fumigation: fumigating the surrounding space with substances that repel insects. Today on sale there are 2 types of these devices used to combat wasps: electric, working mainly from the network (less often - from batteries) and pyrotechnic - spirals that need to be ignited.
As a working substance, insecticides belonging to the group of pyrethroids are usually used. These are synthetic chemical compounds with moderate toxicity to humans and animals. In compositions for fumigators they are used in a minimum concentration, which is safe for humans, but harmful to wasps and other insects. Pyrethrins are used less often - substances of plant origin that do not harm even young children.
When using any fumigator, it is important to read its instructions and follow all its points.
Electrical devices
Electrical devices are intended for use in the home. Active substances are contained either in special plates, or in a liquid. These are consumables that should be replaced.
Some of the popular manufacturers and models:
- "Raid" with the active substance pralletrin. With daily use for 8 hours a day, a bottle of liquid is enough for a month (based on a room of 50 m3. Manufacturers made sure that the fumigator exudes a pleasant smell of eucalyptus. Advanced models have a timer that allows you to schedule the device to turn off.
- Fumitox produces inexpensive fumigators with plates or liquid for children and adults
- Moskitol is another well-known manufacturer of fumigators "for every taste."
Fumigators designed to protect children use a gentle composition with a reduced concentration of chemical insecticide. To achieve high efficiency, plant components such as chamomile extract compensate for this.
Spirals
The wasp spiral is a pyrotechnic fumigator, which got its name because of its shape. It is intended for outdoor use. With its help, they scare away and destroy wasps from the territory near the house or when resting in nature.
The composition of such a fumigator includes wood flour, which provides combustion and decay, as well as an insecticidal substance - usually allethrin, which belongs to synthetic pyrethroid insecticides. It is a poison toxic to insects, producing a nerve effect.
To ensure fire safety, a special refractory stand is included. The fumigator is set on fire for a few seconds, after which it should be put out. Wood flour will provide continuous smoldering, along with which smoke with alethrin will be released. As soon as the insect breathes it in, it will become infected and will be doomed to death.
Smoke with an insecticide spreads quickly. Already 15 minutes after the start of use, insects, including wasps, will no longer bother.
The operation of the fumigator coil is safe for humans and animals. But it is recommended to observe some rules:
- Do not light the spiral near combustible materials.
- You can use it at home for no longer than 15 minutes.
- Be sure to install it on a fireproof stand.
- Do not use the fumigator if there are people nearby who are suffering from bronchial asthma and are sensitive to combustion products.
The spiral from wasps has a lasting effect: protection lasts 7–9 hours. They will also stop annoying flies, mosquitoes, mosquitoes and other midges.
Fumigators - both electric and pyrotechnic - scare away and destroy the wasps flying to the site. This is an excellent device for those who do not want their pastime to be overshadowed by the presence of unwanted insects.
