If you dye your hair with dye lice will die? Real methods of withdrawal

Pediculosis is a disease not only of children, but also of adults. You can get infected anywhere - at work, in public transport, on the beach, swimming in the pool. It is enough to accidentally touch your head with the hair of a person suffering from head lice and the parasites will immediately rush to explore new territory. They can be removed using special tools and combing. However, it is difficult and long.

Hair coloring

But what if dyeing hair, lice die? Let's figure it out by considering the composition of hair dye and the possible principle of its action on parasites.

How does hair dye work on lice?

So what happens if you dye your hair? Are lice dead, or is the paint harmless to them? To find out, let's look at the composition of ordinary hair dye.

Composition

Probably every woman at least once in her life changed her hair color with a special dye. Remember what lies in the bag?
Complete set of hair dyes:

  • gloves
  • instruction
  • bag of paint
  • oxidizing agent.

The contents of the box can sometimes vary depending on the manufacturer, supplemented with a balm, or a special brush, but the two main components are always present. It is the paint itself and the oxidizing agent. They are always packed separately, because when mixed they give a short but strong reaction. What do these two agents contain? Let's look into this issue.

Paint is the main and perhaps the most important component. It consists of coloring pigments, with the help of which the hair color changes. To penetrate deep into the hair and fix there by themselves, they cannot quickly be washed off without an oxidizing agent.

Hydrogen peroxide, as a rule, acts as an oxidizing agent in paints, a substance that has the ability to penetrate the structure of the hair and destroy its pigments. Without it, paint is not able to give a lasting effect.

Ammonia, or its substitutes, is another chemical substance that is part of all persistent paints. It is necessary in order to help pigments penetrate deep into the hair, destroying its keratin structure. It is not a part of shading paints and shampoos.

Interesting fact! Paint without ammonia cannot be resistant. When manufacturers claim that there is no ammonia in a permanent coloring agent, they are a little cunning. In fact, they only replace it with other analogues, not so fragrant, but, undoubtedly, as harmful. In order to slightly reduce the damage done to the hair, various balms and herbal extracts are added to the composition.

Operating principle

We examined the basic chemical composition of the paint, and now let's find out how all these substances work. In other words, how does hair dye affect insects, does it kill lice or not?

Pigments are absolutely chemically inactive. On human health, as well as lice, they have no effect. Another thing is the second component - an oxidizing agent.

Hydrogen peroxide, or peroxide - in its pure form can cause severe skin burns. Peroxide from lice also helps in the same way. Getting on the surface of their body, it destroys chitin. As a result, the entire surface of the body of lice is covered with ulcers and the insect dies.There is another positive quality of hydrogen peroxide. It dissolves the sticky substance by which nits are attached to the hair. Thus, it is possible to get rid of insect eggs.

Hydrogen peroxide from lice does not always help. Some nits may remain viable after treatment. It all depends on the concentration. In unstable paints, its amount is less, respectively, and they will act weaker on insects.

Ammonia, or ammonia, is another chemical weapon against lice. It is found in all paints intended for permanent staining. Recently, it began to be replaced by other ammonia-based compounds. Liquid ammonia destroys the structure of the hair, makes it loose. It also has a detrimental effect on insects. The soft chitinous skin of lice is not able to withstand such a chemical attack, and the nits will not be too good for it. So if you are going to dye your hair specifically from lice, then you should choose paints containing harmful ammonia, and not their safer analogues.

Advice! All hair dyes are more or less harmful to the hair, however, some manufacturers add components to them to mitigate damage to the hair. So before buying, do not be lazy, and read the composition. If it contains vegetable oils and caring balms, then, of course, it is better to give preference to this particular product.

Other real ways to eliminate lice

So, we found out that hair dye helps from lice. However, not everyone agrees to change their image so radically. In this case, you can use other proven methods, for example, such as:

  • treatment with special anti-pediculic drugs;
  • combing with a frequent comb;
  • folk methods.

Of the special drugs, you can recommend such drugs as Medifox, Foxilon, Avicin, Pedilin shampoo, Para-Plus aerosol, Nyuda spray.

Scallop is an old, proven method. By the way, even after using special chemicals, it is recommended to comb out the hair to remove immobilized insects and nits. There are even special combs against licedesigned according to their anatomy.

Alternative methods will help if it is not possible to use chemical preparations, and combing with a scallop seems a long and troublesome task. Of these, the following remedies have proven themselves well:

Prevention

Why do I often get lice? And why does hair coloring not always help? The answer to these questions can sometimes be one - because hygiene rules are not respected. Prevention is the only way to avoid re-infection, since all drugs, including paint, act only once and are not able to protect against parasites for at least a long time.

Pediculosis prophylaxis measures:

  • regular check of the head for parasites;
  • treatment of hair with insect repellents;
  • smooth hairstyles;
  • the use of safety caps when swimming in public waters;
  • regular bath procedures and change of dirty linen.

It is necessary to abandon the use of other people's combs, towels, hairpins. If possible, it is also advisable to avoid crowded places and crowded buses.
