Rules for using dust bugs

Dust from bugs is an insecticidal powder, which, when a parasite penetrates the body, leads to its poisoning and subsequent death. However, unlike its main "competitor" - aerosol, dust is much slower and more difficult, since if the first one forms fine particles when sprayed, which have high penetrating power, the second one must enter the body either when it is fed, which is the case with bedbugs is impossible, or in direct contact with the chitinous cover.

Bed Dust

Dust - basic properties

The name Dust combines many tools with similar properties. The release form, as a rule, is a loose powder of white color, which can be either in pure form or with various additives. All dusts are quite powerful insecticides, many of which are based on boric acid, others on other excipients similar in action. Depending on the manufacturer, this product may have a different composition, color and smell due to the inclusion of certain additional ingredients.

However, in any case, the dust will have the ability to show its basic properties at any temperature. The only thing that can prevent him from preserving the poisonous effect is increased humidity during storage.
What is the difference between dust and other pesticides? First of all, the main working component called pineronyl butoxide. It is he who provides the active components with a prolonged effect, that is, thanks to this substance, only one treatment of the infected room will provide a long poisoning effect.

Dusts, as a rule, are means of a wide spectrum of action, which means that when they are used, it is possible to destroy not only bugs, but also other pests: cockroaches, fleas, ants, ticks, etc. For this reason, this drug can be confidently called universal, since it has a strong damaging activity and acts on a number of different parasites.

However, it should be borne in mind that for the destruction of bedbugs, a slightly larger amount of dust will be needed than, say, when cockroaches are hunted. Both the first and second are very tenacious, but cockroaches are still inferior to bedbugs. But at the same time, dust, among other insecticides, shows the best results precisely in the fight against bedbugs - this is the most advantageous option of bullying, since particles of the powder will retain their poisonous activity for a long time and gradually destroy all individuals of the colony over several weeks.

Criterias of choice

When purchasing dust from bugs, one important feature should be taken into account - these creatures are blood-sucking parasites, therefore, their oral apparatus is designed to pierce the skin and suck blood from a vessel. Unlike cockroaches, they cannot simply swallow dusts, for this reason even the most powerful insecticidal powder can be completely ineffective. In order for the remedy to work, you should purchase a dust with contact activity.

On a note! Contact insecticides on the principle of action are fundamentally different from intestinal. Such substances do not necessarily enter the body through the esophagus. In order for them to start their work, it is enough for them to get on the chitinous cover. That is, if the bug runs over the scattered dust, he will surely smear his paws in it. And that’s enough.

Effective Dust Bugs

Despite the fact that today a huge number of dusts are presented on the household chemicals market, there are relatively few really effective ones. And such are often used not only by ordinary inhabitants, but also by specialists of the pest control services and SES. Let's look at the most active dusts that have passed the suitability test and at the same time showed excellent results in practice.

  • Klopoveron. One of the most powerful bugs from bugs, which was originally created to destroy bloodsucking parasites on military ships: ships and submarines. It is based on a synthetic insecticide, which quickly stops the activity of pests, causing paralysis. However, not everyone can afford to buy this product today - in view of its high cost, Klopoveron is used by only a few pest control companies. Now for 250 g of this drug will have to pay about 1800-2000 rubles.

On a note! Independent use of "Klopoveron" in most cases is impractical. It is much simpler and cheaper to turn to pest control professionals for help!

  • Riapan. The active toxic component of this tool is permethrin - a synthetic insecticide. After use, it retains its toxic effect for 15-20 days. And one package of the drug is enough to process a room with an area of 20 m2.
  • "Phenaxin." The main active insecticide is phenvalerate. Boric acid and lubricating oil are also present. Thanks to such a connection, this dust is very effective against bedbugs and at the same time has virtually no smell. This circumstance allows the use of “Fenaxin” both in apartments and residential buildings, as well as in public catering establishments and in hotel complexes.
  • "Fas-double." It has similar characteristics with "Phenaxinum". As for reviews about its effectiveness, they are extremely positive. At the same time, those who used this dust in their home, note its wide range of actions - “Fas-double” destroys not only bedbugs, but also successfully fights with other domestic pests.
  • "Clean house". Quite toxic, and therefore use it yourself must be extremely careful. For processing a one-room apartment you will need about 250 g of powder - as a result, the effect will be positive. It should be remembered that after a couple of weeks the drug is recommended to be used again - a slightly smaller amount of the drug is already being used for re-treatment.

Terms of use

It is necessary to use dust throughout the room. Processing individual zones will not bring a positive result. The powder is scattered evenly on all surfaces and left for some time.

Important! Not every dust can be bred with water! You will always find information on the application technique in the instructions!

Let's look at the main stages of processing in more detail.

  • First you need to properly prepare the room. We remove all people and pets from the room. Inspect and remove small objects. We put food products in sealed packages or remove them from the premises. We remove bedspreads and bedding from sofas, armchairs and beds and, if possible, remodel in automatic mode at the highest possible temperature.
  • We move all the furniture away from the walls, if possible, disassemble or lay out so that all parts of the cabinets, beds, sofas, etc.were available during processing.
  • It is advisable for the processor to use personal protective equipment: gloves, glasses and a cotton-gauze bandage. It is better to choose clothes from dense material - this way you will protect the skin.

On a note! Modern dusts are not particularly toxic to humans, but inhaling their small particles is highly undesirable!

  • Now we take a wide brush and with it we apply dust on all surfaces. Near baseboards and joints of facing panels, it is better to simply sprinkle the product. We carefully process the joints of the wallpaper, the rear and inner walls of furniture. We apply dust on the window sills, the door frame and around the ventilation grilles. Upholstery of upholstered furniture is processed as well as possible, with both internal parts and all seams.
  • After the surfaces have been properly treated, the room should be left, wash your hands and face thoroughly. Remove protective clothing and wash. After a few hours (4-5), the room is ventilated and wet cleaned using a soap solution with the addition of soda. Hard-to-reach places should not be washed - there the dust should stay for a long time - 1-2 months.

Important Tips

No matter how carefully you apply the dust, getting rid of bedbugs will not work. For this reason, re-processing is needed, due to which young hatching individuals will be destroyed.

Water-soluble bugs from bugs are more convenient to use. They are easier to apply on various surfaces, and they hold on to them much better.

Almost all modern powder insecticides have a neutral odor and evaporate very little. Therefore, they can be left without any fear on furniture for several days and their presence will be quite safe. However, if you use old designs (based on DDT), remember that such dusts can accumulate in the body. Therefore, after processing, they must be thoroughly washed off.

On a note! For this reason, DDT is not recommended for use in everyday life and agriculture! It is much safer to use modern insecticides - they are not inferior in effectiveness to their predecessor and at the same time are not able to cause special harm to human health and domestic animals!

During processing, it is extremely important to ensure that there are no children or pets in the room. In small quantities, dusts are not dangerous, but it is better for children and animals not to contact them. In addition, the condition of other residents should be taken into account - if someone has an allergy or someone suffers from bronchial asthma, all the prescribed safety measures must be followed. Persons with high sensitivity to the components of the drug at the time of treatment, it is desirable to remove from the premises.

Do not expect instant dust from the dust. A positive result will be observed only a few days after processing. In the first few days, the activity of bedbugs, although it will decrease, is slightly. Therefore, first of all, you must initially decide whether this tool is suitable for you or if you need a faster result.

So, having considered the properties and the principle of operation of dust from bugs, we can distinguish its main pros and cons. The positive aspects are safety for people and warm-blooded animals, effectiveness and prolonged action. Among the negative characteristics is a low concentration of the active substance and, compared with other insecticides, dusts are not very convenient to use.
